University of Hull receives prestigious Ministry of Defence award

The University is amongst thirty-two organisations from Yorkshire and the Humber who have been awarded the esteemed ‘Silver’ status from the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.This nationally recognised award is part of the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and it has been provided by the Yorkshire and Humber Reserve Forces and Cadets Association.

The recipients have been highlighted and celebrated for showing overall support for the armed forces community and for enabling development opportunities, as well as creating frameworks to assist the forces.The ERS award will be formally celebrated and passed on to the University of Hull at an awards ceremony in York on 14th September 2023.Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead at the University of Hull, Hayley Pickard-Dumas, said: “Today we received the fantastic news that UoH has been granted the 2023 ERS Silver Award.“As a civic, anchor institution this recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to our region, those we employ and their families through transition from the military.

In 2017, the University signed the Armed Forces Covenant. This recognises the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to the area, country and organisation.
