UK Travel Update: Indonesia No Longer in Red List

As of Monday, 11 October 2021, Indonesia has been exempted from the Red List Country and is included in the List of countries and territories with approved proof of vaccination for travel to the UK.

With this new update, there are two categories that you should take into account

1. Fully Vaccinated

You are categorised as Fully Vaccinated if you have had a complete course of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before you arrive in the UK.

  • Type of Vaccines that were approved by the UK are Oxford/AstraZeneca; Pfizer BioNTech; Moderna and Janssen*
  • Oxford/AstraZeneca, Pfizer BioNTech, Moderna requires 2 doses of vaccine to qualified as fully vaccinated.
  • Janssen only requires 1 dose to qualified as fully vaccinated.
  • You must be able to prove that you’ve been fully vaccinated under a vaccination programme and have authorized evidence of certification (issued by a national or state-level public health authority). The certificate must be in English and includes:
    • Your forename and surname(s)
    • Your date of birth
    • Vaccine brand and manufacturer
    • Date of vaccination for every dose
    • Country or territory of vaccination and/or certificate issuer
Before the trip:
Upon arrival:
  • You must take a COVID-19 test on or before day 2

*) If you have been vaccinated but not with the type specified, you are not qualified as fully vaccinated and thus, you must follow the rules for people who are not fully vaccinated.

2. Not Fully Vaccinated

Before the trip:
  • Take a COVID-19 test – to be taken in the 3 days before you travel to the UK
  • Book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 tests – to be taken after arrival in the UK
  • Complete a passenger locator in the 48 hours before you arrive in the UK
Upon arrival:
  • Quarantine at home or the place you’re staying for 10 days
  • Take your pre-booked day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 tests
  • You may be able to end quarantine early if you pay for a private COVID-19 test through the Test to Release scheme.
  • You may be able to take your vaccination in the UK for free by registering yourself through GP (GPs are self-employed and have contracts with NHS England to deliver NHS services)
You are eligible for vaccination

Get tested before traveling to the university

  • Before returning to university, you should order a free rapid lateral flow (LFD) test online or pick one up at your local pharmacy.
  • Once you arrive at university, you should take two LFD tests, either at home or at an on-campus testing centre (3-4 days apart). You should then test twice a week for the upcoming weeks.
  • Make sure all test result (whether it is positive, negative or void), especially the one you take at home is reported to the NHS Trace and Track.
  • If you are tested positive, you must follow the national guidance for people who received positive test results.
  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 in the previous 90 days and currently are asymptomatic, you do not need to perform a PCR test; however, you must follow the guidelines for persons who have been identified as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case, even if this is within the 90-day timeframe.
